Partnership Training for the Community Safety Professional

One of the priorities of the National Community Safety Network is to "Support the professional development of community safety practitioners".

Since its formation the Network has worked with the Home Office, Skills 4 Justice and other agencies to develop a number of ways in which our members and other practitioners could gain extra skills and knowledge. This is especially important in relation to the new Hallmarks, especially relating to appropriate skills and knowledge. At one time the description of a Community Safety practitioner could be limited to a Community Safety Co-ordinator in a Council and a small number of Police Officers. This has all changed as there are now increasing numbers of people in both Councils, Police, Fire and Health Services as well as Social Landords, Voluntary Groups and others who, as part of their role, deliver initiatives which decrease crime and disorder.

The growth of Neighbourhood Management has multi-agency teamwork at its centre and therefore there is extra need to support the development of all those working in the Community Safety arena.

The Network has responded to this growing need and now provides partnership training at an Introductory and Foundation level, both courses have been a great success!
