Violent Offender Orders

VOO’s are a preventative measure to help the Police Service to protect the public from those violent offenders who continue to pose a risk of serious violent harm to the public even after their release from prison.
The orders enable the Police to risk manage these offenders more effectively, by placing controls upon them in cases where the risk is judged to be most significant and the public are in the greatest potential danger.
The Orders are necessary because some violent offenders continue to pose a serious risk after release, when they are no longer subject to statutory restrictions under licence, Hospital Order or a Supervision Order.
