Tackling Violence and Improving Safetty for Children and Young People

Tackling violence and improving safety for children and young people: February 2008

The cross-governmental Violent Crime Action Plan sets out plans for the next three years to cut homicide, knife crime, gun- and gang-related crime and sexual and domestic violence. It has two main cross-cutting themes:

  • Multi-agency involvement in the management of known violent offenders, and those at most risk of involvement in serious violence (either as perpetrators or victims) in order to prevent violence from occurring / escalating in seriousness.
  • Providing support to victims of serious violence - in order to reduce the impact of these offences, to reduce future vulnerability, and to secure convictions.

The Violent Crime Action Plan is available here.
