New Ten Year Drug Strategy
New Ten Year Drug Strategy - May 2008
The new ten year drug strategy ‘Drugs: protecting families and communities’ seeks to reduce drug-related harms; target and tailor drug interventions; and support the re-integration of drug users into communities. With drug use being identified as one of the ‘drivers’ of crime, this strategy sits under the new Crime Strategy (2008 – 2011), and is tied closely to the new round PSAs.
The four key strands of the drug strategy are to:
- Protect communities by addressing drug supply, drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour;
- Prevent harm to children, young people and families affected by drug misuse;
- Deliver new approaches to drug treatment and social re-integration; and
- Develop public information campaigns, communications and community engagement.
The strategy is available here.
The current Action Plan can be found here.
