NCSN members interaction requested, Cutting Crime Update: Two Years On

Launched by the Government last week, the update to Cutting Crime:

A New Partnership 2008-11 introduced in 2007, emphasised that ten years of new policy, legislation and sustained investment has reduced crime by a third.

The detailed 73-page document also highlights examples of good practice and issues thanks everyone involved in the acknowledged achievements of the last two years.

There is Government recognition that we are now more knowledgeable about what adversely affects public confidence and therefore the update sets out a refreshed and sharpened' vision for the future, focusing on how together we can keep communities safe and increase public confidence.

The intention is to inform partnerships of these new priorities and how they can be promoted and embedded so that collective progress can be reviewed in the autumn.

As the "Network" is the 'Voice of Community Safety' our Newsletter is the forum for informed comment. Not surprisingly  'The 'Cutting Crime' update will be featured in NCSN's June Newsletter and we want to publish members responses alongside the main article so that they can contribute to the review.

Individual’s details can be withheld, whilst a collective response is given, enabling members to contribute freely.  So tell us what you really think!

We have been aware for some time that public confidence is an important issue and that a fear of crime can have as corrosive impact upon communities as crime itself. But it may also be worth considering if the current overall lack of confidence in the integrity of MPs will have a knock-on effect on the amount of trust the public have in government policies too.
