Notes: May 2007 sees the launch of the Government's new crime strategy. In her speech Helen will talk about the strategy and its impact on crime and disorder reduction partnerships.
11.35 - 11.55 Title: CDRP Reform and the Changing Performance Landscape

Speaker: Gareth Hills

Notes: Later this year the Home Office National Standards for CDRPs will be enacted as secondary legislation to the Police and Justice Act of 2006. The National Standards will set out clearly understood minimum standards for the way that CDRPs/CSPs operate in supporting the creation of safer communities. This presentation will outline what those standards are and their implications for agencies and practitioners working in partnerships.
11.55 - 12.10 Title: Policing and Community Safety

Speaker: Meredydd Hughes - Chief Constable, South Yorkshire Police

Notes: This presentation will outline some of the challenges faced by the police and their partners in responding to the CDRP reform programme. Mr Hughes is the ACPO lead on uniformed operations and can provide a national overview of operational issues as well as drawing on examples of best practice from South Yorkshire.

Notes: This presentation will cover the LGA's policy on community safety and their response to the CDRP reform programme.

Notes: Joe will talk about the first eighteen months of the Respect programme, including the Government's aims and policy and progress so far.
14:40 - 15.00 Title: Anti-social Behaviour: Images and Reality

Speakers: Caroline Hunter and Judy Nixon, Principal Lecturers, Faculty of Development and Society, Sheffield Hallam University.

Notes: Anti-social behaviour orders are seen as a key part of the respect agenda, but not everyone is in favour of them. Several organisations advocate different approaches to tackling ASB and this session outlines some alternative approaches.
